Facilitator

Gail Morrison aka Gaiamore (she/her): After many years of searching, I found my spiritual home in Reclaiming about thirty years ago. After attending several workshops and camps, I began my experience as a Reclaiming Teacher at the first Vermont Camp in 1995. Over the years with VWC and other camps, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in the role of ritualist and path leader as well as serving several years as a camp organizer. My participation in Dandelion Gatherings has grounded my teaching in the very foundation of who we are as Reclaiming Witches. I believe that contemplation of the natural world reveals divine messages that help us through life’s challenges and deepen our experience of life. About 15 years ago, I created The Earth Deck for divining guidance from nature. www.naturedivination.com

Teacher, writer, aspiring kitchen witch, hearth keeper and caregiver are all roles Bee takes on; Bee is also a devotee of Brigid, a Priestess to the Descendants, and mother of three. Magic in Bee’s home looks like good food, lots of laughter and play, storytelling, and endless arts and crafts. She believes in the pure magic of childhood and is passionate about raising witchlets. Bee also seeks out joyful, transformative magic, deep conversations, and never turns down a chance to howl with other witches.

Snowdrops face their fears to press through the snow and the courage to bloom in the growing sun. We may feel isolated as the virus continues to interrupt our plans, but we can reconnect to the wonder, beauty, and power of our own luminous hearts.

Join us for two weeks of rekindling our inner forge and building resilience as we prepare for Imbolc. Daily kindling messages with invitations for contemplation and creation, inspired making circles, Convergence-long online sharing and more, bordered by two simple rituals to open and close the work, will steady us as we brave the layers of dark and cold to greet the promise of the dawning year.

We’ll work with Brigid, the healer and the smith, Goddess of poetry and needlework, of our inner forge and protective communities, of cleansing water and creative fire, as we ready ourselves to end our hibernation and emerge renewed. Brigid the Midwife will prepare us to be reborn into a post-covid world, armed with the courage to create, care, and connect.

No matter your relationship with Brigid or your Self as an artist, join us as you are as we prepare to arise into the bright seasons ahead.

Required Tools: Zoom capabilities, Discord, Google Docs, your very own hands, candles.

Otter RiverRider (they/them/she/her): I am a story-yeller, truth-sayer, ritual artist, and an initiate in the Reclaiming and Feri Traditions. My magic is rooted in writing, sacred play, hearth-tending, social action, and keen curiosity in the worlds.

I am enchanted by the power of story to transform our lives. I find the greatest joy in exploring how these threads connect us to each other, our cultures and our gods. All stories are doorways to inner delving, and I stand at their thresholds with lockpicks in hand.

As a witch whose roots begin in the deep south, my magic is inspired by civil rights heroes and informed by my own time at the Capitol. I feel a kinship to wild storms that wound and heal, to the rivers of my life and locality, and the fertile ground that sustains community.

Ancestral Healing Trance

Questions? sisaltarot@gmail.com

The intention of this trance is: “We heal the patterns of the past.” We will transcend linear time to shift destructive patterns for ourselves, our ancestors and our descendants. This trance is based in part on the work of Steven Farmer.

Please bring to the trance something specific in your life right now that you’d like to shift or change. For example: overcoming an addiction; self judgement; PTSD; getting over a relationship; something you consider a destructive or negative pattern or influence in your life.

It’s suggested participants go to bed and invite dreams once the trance ends.

sisal (she/her): I have been a witch and ritualist for 25 years, active in Reclaiming, through the California community and the Tejas community, for eight years. I’m a musician, death worker, gardener and brew witch, and a change agent called to other ways of knowing – trance facilitation and mentoring, shadow work, hypnotherapy and tarot. I am passionate about sustainability in my own life and in my communities, and I blog about that at sustainablewitch.com

Ritual to Support the Journey of the Recently Dead

Friday, 22 January 8:30-9:15pm Eastern
Questions? sisaltarot@gmail.com

Intention: “We gather together in the web of the living to honor death in the world and to facilitate a space where recently dead can meet with ancestral guides and move toward the next phase of their journey.”

A group of us have been offering this ritual over Zoom every Friday since June, to support those who have recently died. We will weave a web of connection, invite elements and ancestors, give the dead time to connect with ancestors who will guide them while we drum, sing, work with tarot, or do other individual work as they cross. We will then release the web of connection and close. This whole ritual should take no more than 45 minutes. The maximum number of attendees is 45, there is minimum - we offer this every Friday with however many attendees there are.

We ask that attendees bring a candle and matches to light the way for the dead.

Facilitators

Starsinger (she/her): Ritualist, drummer, music mage.

sisal (she/her): I have been a witch and ritualist for 25 years, active in Reclaiming, through the California community and the Tejas community, for eight years. I’m a musician, death worker, gardener and brew witch. Those are ways I heal myself, and may be ways others find support in healing through work they do with me. I’m a change agent called to other ways of knowing – trance facilitation and mentoring, shadow work, hypnotherapy and tarot. In recent years I’ve become a champion for sustainability in my own life and in my communities, and I blog about that at sustainablewitch.com

Death Cafe for Reclaiming Witches

Offered twice (independent offerings): Saturday Jan 23 3-4:30pm Eastern Thursday Jan 28 7-8:30pm Eastern
Questions? laurie.dietrich@gmail.com

Death Cafe is a model developed by Jon Underwood and Sue Barsky Reid, based on the ideas of Bernard Crettaz. From the website: “At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. Our objective is ‘to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’.

A Death Cafe is a group-directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.

Death Cafes are always offered:

Join Boneweaver and Mnemosyne in an online Death Cafe for Reclaiming witches. No agenda, objectives, or themes, other than those present in the container we all share; the Principles of Unity. Just a heart-centered, heart circle of sorts, responsive to who and what is in the “room” when we gather. Please bring your own cake!

Facilitators

Mnemosyne (she/her): Mnemosyne is a New Orleans-based artist (image/text/performance), ritualist & deathworker. She is a Secular Buddhist, a Reclaiming Witch, a Diana’s Grove-trained Priestess, and an Hekatean Sorcerer. Her magic is shaping & story-ing, stillness & silence, truth-telling & bone-setting. She is not your feel-good friend*.

*If you would rather know than be comfortable, if you relish doing hard work, however, she is your collaborator.

Boneweaver (she/her): I believe in the power of deep collective magic through riitual, sinking down and in, then connecting outward. I am a death-working, transition loving, Reclaiming/Feri Priestess artist. I talk to the Dead. They talk back. Like the Fool in tarot, I thrill to stepping off of that cliff into the unknown, trusting the process to carry me to my work. I work to build healthy community through intentional compassionate magic and ritual, near Pittsburgh, PA.

Sacred Solitude: Welcome to the Cave

Offered twice (independent offerings): Saturday Jan 23rd 6:30-9pm Eastern Wednesday Jan 27th 6:30-9pm Eastern
Questions? skyemarindacarter@gmail.com

Intention: Together, apart, we go inward Down into the cavern To discover, to be whole

We all are experiencing some level of isolation and solitude as we continue to deal with the COVID 19 pandemic. Not being able to be with all of our beloveds has left many of us wondering how to find meaning and peace in this time.

In this workshop, we will take a look at myth that involves exploring the depths of the underworld and the depths of ourselves. We will explore historical examples of mystics who chose isolation as a path to divine knowledge.

We will ponder what we, as witches, can find in the hollow echoes of the cave?

The workshop includes a short meditation with journaling/sketching time.

Recommended materials: A Zoom background photo of a cave of your choosing. The photo can be a drawing you made, a photo you took, or found on Google images. If you need assistance with this, feel free to email Skye.

You may choose other ways to create a cave-like atmosphere. Having the Lights off, for example. Feel free to get creative with this.

A pair of headphones for higher sound quality during the meditation. A journal or sketchbook.

Facilitator

Skye Marinda (she/her they/their): I am a multi-media artist, tarot lover and Ester Perrel enthusiast. This is my 3rd year attending SpiralHeart.

In 2016, I found witchcraft right when I needed it. I was dealing with chronic pain, insomnia, an eating disorder, and feeling like nothing was possible for my life. With the direction from a friend, I built an altar and began to meditate daily. The idea that I was sacred immediately let me nourish my body with food and sleep at night. I have since continued to seek love and mystery.

Cultural Exchange vs Cultural Appropriation

Thinking about our stories, the stories we work, the stories that inspire ritual arcs, we ask “Is this stealing or sharing? How can we tell the difference?”

The members of DARC: Decolonizing Actions in Reclaiming Communities have made an open-hearted invitation and provided resources so that communities can tackle the big issues of race, racism, anti-racism, and decolonization. We invite you to join us as we explore cultural appropriation, using the tools provided to us by DARC.

Speaking to the Subconscious: An in-depth discussion of Dual Trance Technique

Monday January 25th 7:30-9pm Eastern
Questions? thenecessarymonster@gmail.com

Is trance manipulative? Do we rely on trance too much? What is “dual” trance anyway? How was it developed, and why? What specific ritual challenges is it designed to overcome?

Dual trance is a particular trance technique, with a history and application you may not be entirely aware of. And it is absolutely manipulative. It is based in hypnotherapy methodologies designed to overcome resistance. How do you, as an ethical trance facilitator, relate to that? How do you, as a ritualist, determine when and how to use the tool of dual trance? And when not to?

Join us for a conversation about the dual trance technique through the lenses of both Reclaiming and Diana’s Grove practices and teachings. This conversation is open to all folx interested in trance, but will be slanted toward practical information for trance practitioners. As a bonus for those who attend this discussion, we’ll offer some supplemental resources, crafted by long-term trance facilitators, designed to help you hone your own practice.

Facilitators

Marrow (they/them): A musician, sex worker alumni, make-up artist, feminist, and mother, Marrow is an anarchist witch based in New York, and walking many disparate paths. It is there, in the between, the liminal places that delineate an edge, that they believe the most potent magic lies. Medusa is their patron deity, and they are a devotee of fireside chats, the brilliance of carnivals, the silence of cemeteries, the cool clarity of starlight and the nuance of cognitive dissonance. A ritualist practicing and teaching in the Reclaiming tradition, Marrow is most drawn to work that challenges us to examine our most jagged edges. Where there’s fear, there’s power.

Favorite topics include: sacred sound and medicinal self-expression, personal and cultural shadow work, Mono No Aware*, sex work, and the juxtaposition of science and spirituality. Those interested can read more about Marrow’s sex work & activism at their blog, www.bodyofindulgence.com, and you can read more about work within Reclaiming at www.necessarymonster.com.

*Mono No Aware: Japanese concept describing an appreciation for the impermanence of all things.

Weaving Accountability

Please attend all three sessions: Mon Jan 25 7pm–9pm Eastern Wed Jan 27 7pm-9pm Eastern Fri 29th 8pm-10pm Eastern
Questions? yarrow.angelweed@gmail.com

We are beads in a braiding of time, woven into the fabric of our ancestors, weaving the fabric our descendants will be woven into, the fabric they will start to weave. We are beads in a braiding of accountability, accountable for our piece of the loom, our strand of the braid. In this three-night offering we will explore this braiding of time and accountability: Where do we belong? What harms have been done / are being done / may continue to be done? What harms can we repair?

In this offering we will delve into manifestations of White Supremacy culture, deepen our understanding of how we have internalized racial oppression, and collectively build a container for repair. We will seek the wisdom and support of ancestors, both perpetrators and victims. We will soften into courageous love, and challenge each other to show up for difficult conversations about privilege, racism and oppression.

We want to learn ecstatic accountability, knowing that “ecstasy” was woven from words that mean “standing outside ourselves”. What would it mean to stand outside ourselves and be ecstatically accountable? What would it mean to be devoted and accountable to our ancestors and descendants? What would it mean to be devoted and accountable for our ancestors? What would it mean to be devoted to intentional repair of the braiding of time we are in, the loom we are working?

This offering is an opportunity for white identifying people to explore white supremacy culture and our role and responsibilities in undoing racism. We welcome and recognize the gift of the presence of any Black Indigenous People of Color who choose to join us.

Facilitators

Catkin (she/her): I am a white witch living on unceded land of the Awaswas speaking Ohlone who are still present in the area currently known as Santa Cruz. My magic sprouted in the wild places of the Central California coast when as a child I felt connection with creatures, plants, and spirits of the land. Later my magic practice grew as I became immersed in the unique culture that was Free Cascadia Witchcamp, under the stars and surrounded by forests, for one week out of the year. Vibrant threads of this magic were carried home and with close community were woven into familiar forests in group nature rituals influenced by New Moon Culture. I am a New Moon Culture initiate and co-facilitated New Moon path for three consecutive years at Free Cascadia Witchcamp until that camp ended. With the closing of that camp, I have been working more to undo the toxic spells of whiteness.

Eleven (she/they): I’m a Pakeha witch, raised in Aotearoa/New Zealand under the cold shadow of Empire, Capital and Patriarchy and fighting my way to the warmth of the sun as best I can. I have queer sensibilities, an anarchist heart, a critical mind, a green thumb, and a Radical Faerie handbag (with matching shoes). I’m wealthy in the riches of many communities I’ve connected with and travelled through to be where I am in this season, the foothills of the Sierra Nevada range, Miwok country.

I seek deep justice and a fertile, healthy ecology by cultivating robust soil and resilient communities. I’m committed to learning more about how I stand in my own way.

Jaguar (he/him): I am: white, trans, queer, anti-racist, abolinionist, anarchist, witch. Passionately awaiting the evolution of the Human Heart. As a warm people person I love to nurture playfulness and healing from the wounds of the ‘white-supremist capitalist patriarchy (-b.hooks) we all grew up in. Holding a non-judgemental place for us to allow ourselves to slow down, to be imperfect, to fail, to explore grey areas, to listen, to connect. and to stay connected, even through uncomfortable moments.

Joan (she/her): At my core, I am a white-identified practical witch who sees what needs to be done and gets ‘er done! I look at the pain of the world and individuals with unflinching eyes and hear their cries with unflinching ears. I say “HELL NO!” to patriarchy and white supremacy

With the support, encouragement and guidance of Dark Mother Goddess and My Brilliance, I help heal the world, one heart at a time. I train others to heal the world, one heart at a time. I work to undo racism and dismantle white supremacy.

Juniper (she/her): I am a white-identified witch dedicated to liberation from white supremacy, colonialism, and capitalism. Liberation not through delusion, denial or disavowing, but by standing in the fire of resistance. By remembering that we are descended from the witches burned; and also from those who lit the fire. By remembering what has been sacrificed and what is worthy of our lives.

I am dedicated to a journey that embodies grounding, listening, non-judgmental curiosity, humility, vulnerability, accountability to community, and compassion for self and others. My tools have been forged in witch camps, in classes, and in my personal practice, but also in courtrooms, in tear gas, and on a cot in the Travis County jail.

MoonCrone (she/her): I am a white witch, priestess, queer, lesbian, person with a mobility disability, and former academic librarian. I weave together the threads of many communities (Reclaiming, Tejas Web, Feri, RCG, and UU). The beauty in the natural world, the arts, and the magic of ritual sustain my work for racial, economic, and environmental justice. I have been actively doing anti-racist learning and unlearning for the last 5 years.

Tere (they/them): I am a white witch. I am non-binary and older. I live in the Upper Mississippi River region, traditional lands for the Dakota and Anishinaabe people. I’ve been circling, teaching, and consensing with other Reclaiming witches since 1985. I’ve experienced a lot of our history and am very excited to contemplate that we are finally becoming an anti-racism tradition. May we fully step into that mission! I humbly recognize my own racism and white supremacy thinking. I am grateful for all my anti-racism teachers and see this offering as an opportunity for me to continue learning.

Yarrow (they/them or he/him): I have been deeply involved in the Reclaiming tradition since the late 1990s — in rituals, core classes, Witchcamps, sometimes in the streets with the Pagan Cluster. What I’ve learned seems to boil down to this: make the next mistake. Make the next of many mistakes. Make our mistakes in solidarity with each other, because none of us can do it alone, because every one of us is necessary.

I am a white person in Reclaiming, trying to participate in the work of undoing white supremacy in Reclaiming and beyond Reclaiming. Trying to be accountable as I make the next mistake. In solidarity, and not alone.

WITCH VOX | The Power of Sound, Song, and Voice in Reclaiming Ritual and our Everyday Lives

Friday Jan 29th, 7:30-9pm Eastern
Questions? marrownocturne@gmail.com

When you hear the word ‘music’, what comes to mind? Does your favorite song spring to mind? Is there a soundtrack you listen to only when you’re grieving? What IS music? How does it affect us? Does sound have a place in ritual? In our magic? In our activism?

Sound is one of the most powerful forces on this planet. A song can lull an infant to sleep, while a soundwave, at the right frequency, can shatter a glass. Join us in this 2 hour class and experience this transformative tool for yourself. Together we will investigate our personal relationship with sound, and with our voices. We will explore ways to use our voices that go beyond what we’ve been taught to think of as a typical “performance” setting. We’ll touch on the science behind the power of sound– what makes it such an effective tool, and why we respond the way we do to (what amounts to) simple vibrations. Participants will learn to hone their relationship with sound, and to wield their own voices in service to their community and their intentions. Curious about how to weave music into your practice? This workshop is for you. Looking to use sound to build community, guide ritual, and anchor meditative practices? You’ve come to the right place.

You have a voice. Are you ready to use it?

Are you ready to be heard?

Stop by and take a listen to what the Soundspinners have been up to since last ConVergence! Put us on in the background and go about your life, or tune in with intention and let us take you on a journey through sound.

Facilitators

Marrow (they/them): A musician, sex worker alumni, make-up artist, feminist, and mother, I am an anarchist witch based in New York, and walking many disparate paths. It is here, in the between, the liminal places that delineate an edge, that I believe the most potent magic lies. Medusa is my patron deity, and I am a devotee of fireside chats, the brilliance of carnivals, the silence of cemeteries, the cool clarity of starlight and the nuance of cognitive dissonance. A ritualist practicing and teaching in the Reclaiming tradition, I am most drawn to work that forces us to examine our most jagged edges. Where there’s fear, there’s power.

Favorite topics include: sacred sound and medicinal self-expression, personal and cultural shadow work, Mono No Aware*, sex work, and the juxtaposition of science and spirituality. Those interested can read more about my sex work & activism at my blog, Body of Indulgence.

*Mono No Aware: Japanese concept describing an appreciation for the impermanence of all things.

Renee (she/her): Renee has been a member of Spiralheart for about 5 years, when she first learned that the music she performed and loved so much can be a powerful conduit for meditation, magic and healing. A classically trained “Opera Heretic”, she is working on becoming what she calls a SoundWitch- a voice in the woods that others follow, only to find a community of others who help them ultimately find themselves.
